Container sent in June

Posted by Jonathan

Thank you to all of you that helped with the container in June.  I know this is late but as we were having problems I was unable to post anything.  Thank you to all of the churches that helped to collect items.  Thanks as well to all of the volunteers that helped to load the container.  It arrived safely and I have included pictures of one of the loads in Honduras.  It arrived at like seven P.M. so we unloaded all night.  That night it was also raining so we had to do it all in the pickup and the expedition as the larger truck that we hired got stuck trying to come through the river.  We did get it out the next day though and it was a long night and next day.  But, thank the Lord we got it all in safe and it was a great blessing to receive.  Thank you also to all of the Companies that donated items to construct the Ethan N. Daugherty Memorial Christian School.  Thank you all of you are a blessing to this ministry and the children in Honduras.

Preparing items to load.

Thank you Central Baptist in Baton Rouge, LA for all of the beans and rice!

Thank you Scott Family for all of the help Packing, your family was a blessing.

Thanks to Temple Baptist in LA. for all of the items your church collected and donated.

Aaron is very happy the container is loaded and leaving.

Thanks to Joseph Lepro for all the help and time he spent loading the container. Could not have done it without him.

Holy Week

Posted by Will

Hi everyone. Sorry I have not written on this blog for some time, but we have been unable to get internet services out here where we live! We recently got an air card that is supposed to give us pretty fast access, but it is actually slower than dial-up! (For those of us who remember those days.) This week has been very busy for us, as here in Honduras this is known as Holy Week. Everything closes at noon on Wednesday and does not open again until Monday. Friday is the biggest holiday of the year here and also the most dangerous. We stayed here close to the property this week and worked on various projects. We had a really good service Wednesday night and today as well. The kids enjoyed the week out of school, but they have to get back to work tomorrow. We cooked and packaged over three hundred bags of bread this week, which we were able to distribute to the poor children and families in Veracruz, the little village near where we have the Home. We are staying busy with different projects and we are hoping to get twenty five more laying hens soon, as the twenty five we have now cannot keep up with the growing demand of the home. We now have twenty one children and continue to grow. We are hoping to update more in the future. Sorry we cannot put up pictures now, but hopefully this year we will get a better internet service. Lord bless.

Visitor at the building site!

Posted by Jonathan

Today we were moving some things and found an unwanted visitor just outside.  We brought it back to Santa Rosa but ended up doing away with it since they are so poisonous.

A fairly large one at that!

Project finally done!

Posted by Jonathan

This week we were able to finally complete the septic project.  Everyone lent a hand and we were able to get it done.  We put in the drain lines for the bathrooms on the upper level and the shower lines on the lower level.  Please keep praying that we will be able to finish this building in the next few weeks as it will take a miracle to complete.

Thank you to everyone that gave of your time last Saturday to help sort and pack things for the container.  It was a big help and we could not have done it without you all.  Here are a few pictures! Loading the container

Posted by Jonathan

Thank you to all of you that helped with sorting and packing for the container.  It left today and should be arriving at the port in Honduras on November 3rd.  If there are no complications  in customs it will arrive at the orphanage sometime that week.  We were able to get a lot of the needed items on the container and hope to get the building finished soon.  Here are some pictures of us loading.  Sorry they are not the best, but we spent a lot of time loading after dark and even into the early morning.  We will try to post more pictures as we progress on the building.

Birthdays

Posted by Will

October brought a whole round of birthdays for several of the kids and my daughter Abigail. She was very excited about her third birthday, especially the Pooh cake her mother made her! She was very happy about her new dolls and dress from Grandma and Grandad and all of the trappings that went with the party! Our favorite inventor, Juan Carlos, celebrated his twelfth birthday and Junior turned fourteen. Some of the boys are still a little small for their age, especially ones like Juan Carlos, who looks nine or ten! Of course all parties are accompanied by piñatas, which are nice names for mad fights over candy!

Planting Day

Posted by Will

After driving around the large city of San Pedro for several hours, we finally found some good trees that we could plant around the building. On Thursday we had a work day at the property with all of the kids. It was quite a chore hauling the heavy trees by hand and planting them, but after working the whole day we finally got them planted. The boys all helped so the work progressed much faster. The building looks really good with a little green around it!
